Overview

A highly invasive procedure that’s aimed at increasing a person’s height or correcting a limb-length discrepancy (one leg shorter than the other). It can add up to 15 cm to the height but poses serious risks to the patient. Leg-lengthening is usually done in children and young adults (18-25) whose bone growth has not completely ended yet. The expected result appears over time, usually several weeks, since it takes time for the bone and soft tissues to grow and increase in length. The final result is permanent and you can go back to normal activities after you’re fully recovered.
