Cleft Lip Repair is a reconstructive plastic surgery for newborn babies that repairs a cleft lip, a congenital opening in the upper lip, which involves the closing of the cleft and stitching it with sutures. A cleft lip could be detected as early as 16 weeks into the pregnancy and will be confirmed at birth. However, the surgery to fix this issue is usually done in the first few months and the best time is when the child is 3 to 6 months old.
