Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing method in which pigment is inserted under your skin using a needle to create the look of real hair strands, usually done to improve thin or sparse eyebrows and make them look fuller. Microblading gives a more natural appearance to eyebrows compared to conventional eyebrow tattooing, and its result usually lasts 18 to 30 months, after which you may need to repeat the procedure. Your skin type, lifestyle, and how often you get touch-ups can affect the durability of your microbladed brow.
Also called a forehead lift, it’s a cosmetic surgery that improves the appearance of the forehead and eyebrows area by lifting drooping eyebrows and reducing wrinkles, creases, frown lines, and craw’s feet.

Dermabrasion is an invasive skincare procedure in which the damaged top layers of the skin are scraped away, usually using a device with a rough rotating tip. This causes the skin to repair itself by producing more collagen, revealing new layers that are smoother and healthier. Dermabrasion is used to treat a variety of skin problems such as scars, acne scars, wrinkles, pigmentation issues, uneven skin texture, etc. The procedure is followed by a few days of downtime and the final results appear in around 3 months.
Eyebrow transplant is a permanent cosmetic surgery for the eyebrows in which hairs are taken from other parts of the body such as the back of the head or a small area above the ear and transplanted into the eyebrows to give you fuller and thicker eyebrows. Since hair follicles are also transferred to the eyebrows besides individual hairs, you can ensure hair growing even after the initial ones fall out. However, it may take several months for the follicles to adapt to their new place and start growing hair. The method may also be more expensive compared to other eyebrow procedures, but natural hairs of one’s own are its main advantage.

Waxing is a hair removal technique in which a sticky substance is applied to the skin and then abruptly removed to pluck unwanted hair at the follicle level. For optimal results or to reduce pain while waxing, make sure the hair length is no more than one-fourth to three-fourths of an inch, and avoid using retinoid creams a few days before waxing to prevent skin removal along with the hair. Other factors such as specific medications and diseases, recent sunburn, or laser therapy may also increase the chance of skin lifting while waxing. Waxing results last about 3-6 weeks depending on the individual’s hair growth rate and the area of waxing.
Threading is a precise hair removal technique in which a thin cotton/polyester thread is doubled and twisted and then rolled over the skin, plucking the unwanted hair at the follicle level, mostly used for brow shaping. Compared to waxing, threading is a more precise method for shaping eyebrows, providing more control over the procedure to define eyebrows more accurately. It is also a gentler method, making it an ideal option for removing unwanted hair on the entire face area, however, not so efficient for areas with too much coarse hair. The results of hair removal through threading can last up to 4 weeks.
Laser tattoo removal is the most common method to remove unwanted tattoos. It’s done by targeting the ink particles under the skin with highly concentrated light waves to break them down into smaller pieces, making it easier for the body to remove them. Tattoos containing several colors may need to be treated by various lasers and different wavelengths. Unlike surgical removal, this procedure does not completely remove the tattoo but makes it significantly lighter and less noticeable. However, several sessions are required to achieve the best results. You’ll usually need 6 to 8 treatment sessions with intervals of 6-8 weeks.
Microblading removal aims at removing unwanted microblading which is done with different techniques such as laser and saline solution. You’d better wait for 8 to 12 weeks before starting your laser treatment. Depending on the ink density, laser microblading removal may need 1 to 4 sessions (sometimes more), each 8 weeks apart, so that the skin goes through two growth cycles and shows the real results. Removal using saline may also require several sessions (3-6) each several weeks apart. Laser removal is a non-invasive method and is usually more effective. However, it requires the eyebrows to be shaved off before the treatment.
Brow lamination is a procedure that straightens the brow hairs and sets them in the right direction using a chemical solution, making the eyebrows smooth and shiny. Unlike tattooing techniques, brow lamination gives a fuller and thicker appearance to already existing brow hairs instead of adding pigments to enhance an eyebrow shape. It also lasts shorter (about 6 weeks). You can have your eyebrows re-laminated afterward to maintain your look for longer. Brow lamination works best with fuller eyebrows. However, it could be accompanied by a brow tint for a bolder result.
Dermal filler injection is a non-surgical procedure involving the injection of gel-like substances under the skin to smooth out wrinkles and creases, enhance the volume, and improve the contours of the recipient area. Dermal fillers can also help with removing acne scars and restoring facial fat in people with HIV. Except for polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), other FDA-approved types of fillers (Like Hyaluronic acid, Calcium hydroxylapatite, and Poly-L-lactic acid) are all absorbable by the body which renders their effects temporary, usually lasting from 6 to 18 months. Treatment with PMMA may last up to 5 years.

A thread lift is a non-surgical procedure in which absorbable sutures are used to lift and tighten the skin to improve signs of aging. It is commonly done as an alternative to a surgical facelift, brow lift, or other lifting procedures. However, compared to a surgical lift, a thread lift is less invasive and brings about immediate results but of course, they usually last for a shorter time, about 1 to 3 years, depending on the skin type and the patient’s lifestyle.

Microshading is a semi-permanent eyebrow procedure in which tiny dots of pigment is applied to the eyebrows to create a shadow or gradient appearance in order to fill sparse eyebrows and make them appear fuller and thicker. Compared to microblading, microshading works more effectively for those with sensitive or oily skin since the pigments penetrate deeper and are set better in this method. Microshading lasts up to 1 to 3 years, and you usually need touch-ups every 6 to 8 months.
Eyebrow tattoo is a permanent eyebrow procedure in which pigments or indelible ink is inserted under the skin to create the appearance of a natural eyebrow in order to reshape the brows and make them look thicker and fuller. In other words, it’s a tattoo in the shape of an eyebrow. Conventional eyebrow tattoos used to be more solid and obvious, however, eyebrow tattooing techniques and methods have evolved to create a more realistic and natural look. In this technique, tattoo ink penetrates deeper into the skin and is longer lasting compared to microblading.
Electrolysis hair removal is an FDA-approved hair removal procedure in which a fine probe is inserted into the hair follicles to destroy them and prevent them from growing new hair using shortwave radio frequencies, requiring multiple sessions, usually 8 to 12 monthly sessions with intervals of 6 to 8 weeks, for the best results. Compared to laser hair removal, electrolysis does not require maintenance sessions and once the treatment is finished, the effects are permanent.
Micropigmentation is a procedure in which pigment is deposited into the skin to create the appearance of hair or makeup, often used to camouflage baldness and scars or as makeup for the eyes & lips. Compared to tattoos, micropigmentation uses more delicate dots, which help create smooth details blending perfectly. It can be accompanied by other hair treatment methods to sharpen the results or conceal the scar. Scalp micropigmentation to cover up baldness is considered a permanent treatment lasting more than 6 years. However, it usually starts to lighten after 4 to 6 years and may need a touchup.
