Dr. Y. Ilker Manavbasi

Dr. Yurdakul Ilker Manavbaşı is a world-famous aesthetic surgeon in Istanbul, Türkiye. He was born in 1971 in the capital city, Ankara. Dr. Manavbaşı received his M.D. from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1999. In the same year, he did well in the prestigious TUS exam, the entrance exam for the medical specialty in Türkiye, getting accepted into Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, one of the oldest medical schools in Türkiye, for a specialty program in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which he completed in 2005.

During his specialty education, Dr. Manavbasi worked as Chief of the Department of Hand Surgery at İren private hospital in Istanbul from 2001 until 2004. Then, he joined the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic of Professor. Dr. Onur Erol, one of the renowned surgeons in Türkiye, as a fellow and later as a partner. Having focused his work on nasal surgery (rhinoplasty), Dr.  Ilker Manavbaşı went to the US to work at Zeeba Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio with Professor Dr. Bahman Guyuron, one of the world’s leading plastic surgeons in the field of rhinoplasty, as a fellow. He also worked as an observer surgeon at the University of Kuopio in Finland and the University of Linköping, Sweden during that period.

Dr. Ilker Manavbaşı is a member of numerous national and international societies including the Rhinoplasty Society and the Turkish Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (TSAPS). He is also the founder and head of the Plastic Surgeons’ Study Group (HABEK) in Türkiye and he chairs the monthly meetings, which revolve around rhinoplasty lectures. He has published many scientific articles in prestigious plastic surgery journals. 

Dr. Manavbaşı’s ideal is to obtain the desired nose shape with a single operation and to eliminate the main problems encountered in nose operations. He developed two techniques for this purpose, which were presented at the Symposium on Plastic Surgery Symposium in Italy in 2008. These techniques were entitled to be published in the leading aesthetic surgery magazines.  He is currently working on other techniques that he has developed to enable computerized nose simulations to be applied during rhinoplasty.

Dr. Ilker Manavbaşı speaks English very well.  He is interested in reading history and philosophy and listening to classical music in his spare time. He also leads an active life by playing sports such as fencing, skiing, and swimming. He is married and a father of two.
