Dr. Nazim Cerkes

Dr. Nazim Cerkes is known for his work in aesthetic plastic surgery. He acquired his expertise in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine between 1985-1990, where he initiated the first clinical applications of reconstructive microsurgery.

Following his residency, Dr. Cerkes worked in the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Alabama at Birmingham – USA from 1990-1991, serving as both a research and clinical fellow. From 1992-2002, he was an Associate Professor at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

In 2002, Dr. Cerkes established the Cosmed Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Center, starting his private practice. 

He often participates in international symposiums, delivering lectures and live surgical demonstrations, particularly in the area of rhinoplasty. Surgeons from around the world visit his clinic annually to learn from his techniques.

Dr. Cerkes has held important positions in several well-known organizations. Between 2009-2012, he was the President of the Turkish Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He then was the 1st Vice President of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery from 2016-2018, and the President Elect from 2018-2020.

On September 5, 2020, Dr. Cerkes was appointed as the President of the International Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons Association (ISAPS), an organization where he has been performing various management roles since 2010. The appointment occurred in an online ceremony due to the global Corona virus pandemic and was viewed by over 2000 association members worldwide.

ISAPS, with over five thousand members globally, works to enhance surgeons' knowledge of aesthetic surgeries through the organization of congresses. These events feature plastic surgeons sharing their surgical techniques and occasionally conducting live surgery courses.

Before his current role as ISAPS President, Dr. Cerkes served as the Chair of the Education Committee since 2010. Over a span of ten years, he delivered numerous speeches at key association events.

In addition to these roles, doctor Cerkes has held positions such as the Vice President of ISAPS and the President of the Rhinoplasty Society of Europe, which he co-founded in 2011. His tenure as President lasted from September 2016 until the end of 2018. His service to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) began in 2010, where he served on the Executive Board, leading as Education Council Chair from 2010 to 2014 before moving to his role as Vice President.
