Dr. Merezban Piloo Katrak has accrued over two decades of experience in the field of General and Laparoscopic Surgery. His educational credentials include an M.B.B.S from Mumbai and a DNB in Surgery from the National Board of Examination in New Delhi. Furthering his expertise, Dr. Katrak obtained FRCS and MRCS qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow, Scotland, and the MRCS from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Ireland. His commitment to advancing his surgical skills is evident from his Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery for Bariatrics & Metabolic Surgery from the Indian Association of Gastro-Intestinal Endo Surgeons (I.A.G.E.S) in New Delhi, India.

Dr. Katrak's affiliations with prestigious medical societies such as the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow, the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), and the Indian Association of Gastro Intestinal Endo Surgeons (I.A.G.E.S) underline his standing in the medical community. With 18 years of service at NMC, Dr. Katrak has developed a robust expertise in performing major abdominal surgeries, minimally invasive daycare surgeries, and a range of laparoscopic procedures including hernia, gall bladder, anorectal, pilonidal, varicose veins, and breast surgeries. His post-graduation career was distinguished by a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, under Padmashree Dr. Pradeep Chowbey, and further training in specialized procedures across Italy and Austria.

Before his tenure at NMC Specialty Hospital - Abu Dhabi, Dr. Katrak contributed significantly to the GESS Department at BLY Nair Hospital in Mumbai, handling a wide spectrum of hepatobiliary and colorectal surgeries, in addition to managing trauma cases as a Casualty Medical Officer.

His specialized interest in hernia surgery led him to pursue advanced training in Belgium, India, and Poland, and to play a pivotal role in organizing international hernia conferences in Abu Dhabi. Dr. Katrak's dedication to continuous learning and contribution to the field is also evident in his role as a regular presenter and faculty member at surgical conferences, maintaining his knowledge at the cutting edge through international exposure.
