What steps can I take to diminish the appearance of my acne scars?

Eight years ago, I underwent treatment involving acne medication. However, I've recently noticed the resurgence of pimples on my face, along with lingering scars. This situation is worrying, as I fear my skin might be reverting to its previous condition. What course of action do you recommend I take?
