Swelling After Juvederm Injection—Should I Massage It?
Hello, I had a Juvederm injection yesterday, but my face is still swollen. Will massaging the area help reduce the swelling faster? Also, I went to the gym on the same day I got the injection. Could that be why I'm experiencing swelling?
Hello,
If you are referring to Juvederm injections, there is generally no need to massage the area after the procedure. It's best to avoid touching or massaging the injected area for at least 48 hours to prevent any disruption of the filler. General daily activities can be resumed a few hours after the procedure, but there is no prohibition. However, avoid strenuous physical activity immediately following your injections to minimize swelling and potential movement of the filler. If you have any concerns, please consult with your practitioner.
Massaging the area where you got the Juvederm might seem like a good idea to reduce swelling, but it can actually cause more issues, like uneven distribution of the filler. As for the gym, it’s definitely better to avoid any heavy exercise right after any fillers because it can increase swelling and bruising. If the swelling persists, consult with your injector for further advice.
It’s important not to massage the injected areas after getting fillers like Juvederm. Doing so can move the filler to unwanted areas and increase swelling. Going to the gym and being active might have contributed to your current swelling, as exercise increases blood circulation. For now, try to rest and keep your head elevated to reduce swelling.
Hello! I'd advise against massaging the area. Massaging can disrupt the filler and affect the results. The swelling you're experiencing is likely due to the injections combined with your gym activity, which can exacerbate inflammation. Try to keep the area cool with a cold compress and take it easy for the next couple of days.
Hi there! It's actually recommended not to massage the injection site after a Juvederm treatment because it can potentially cause the product to spread unevenly or introduce bacteria. The swelling is a common reaction and should subside on its own within a few days. Exercise can indeed increase swelling due to heightened blood flow, so it's best to avoid strenuous activities for at least 24-48 hours after the procedure.
