Can I Use Homemade Saline Solution for Nasal Irrigation Post-Surgery?

Hello, good day to you,
After my rhinoplasty, the doctor recommended washing my nose with a saline solution, but I've seen recipes for making it at home on some websites. Do you think it's safe to use these homemade solutions? I'm worried about getting an infection if I use these DIY solutions.

Hello and respects, Regarding the use of homemade saline solutions for nasal irrigation after surgery, I would like to offer a crucial recommendation. It is advisable to use ready-made, standard solutions available at pharmacies. These solutions are prepared under precise conditions and have been approved to ensure the best safety for your situation. Creating saline at home could carry risks due to the lack of guaranteed sterility and the absence of proper balance in the components, which could lead to infections or other issues during the recovery phase after surgery. Therefore, I urge you to only use medically approved products. Wishing you a healthy and complete recovery.

Actually, it's best not to risk it with homemade solutions. After surgery, your body is more susceptible to infection, and even a minor mistake in the homemade saline preparation could cause a big problem. Commercially available saline solutions are inexpensive and formulated specifically for such uses, ensuring they are safe and effective.

I understand wanting to DIY, but for medical purposes, especially post-operation, it’s crucial to use professionally prepared solutions. These are specially formulated to prevent infection and are made under sterile conditions, which is not something easily replicated at home. Better safe than sorry, so please use the commercial options.

Hi there! While making your own saline solution might seem like a good idea, it’s really important to use a product that is guaranteed to be sterile and properly balanced, especially after surgery. Homemade solutions can't ensure the same level of sterility and might cause more harm than good. Stick to the products recommended by healthcare professionals to avoid any complications

Hello! I would strongly advise against using homemade saline solutions for post-surgical care. The risk of contamination and incorrect salt concentration is too high, which could potentially lead to infections. It's best to stick with pre-packaged, sterile saline solutions that are designed for medical use and sold in pharmacies. They are not expensive and provide peace of mind with their safety standards
