A scholarship awarded by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey facilitated his fellowship in Laryngology at the prestigious Harvard Medical School's MEEI Department between 2008 and 2009.

Over the years, Yelken has consistently contributed to the academic world, boasting over 50 publications in both national and international journals. His frequent lectures and presentations at global conferences emphasize his expansive research, especially in the realm of voice disorders. Beyond the medical sphere, Yelken delved into the world of music, studying at the music society of Uskudar. His proficiency extends to instruments like the Oud and Guitar.
