Dr. Fazil Apaydin

Dr. Fazil Apaydin is affiliated with the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Ege University and operates a private clinic in Izmir, Turkey. His area of specialization is facial plastic surgery, a field in which he has held the position of division head since 1999. In 2007, Dr. Apaydin distinguished himself by passing the board examination, becoming the first surgeon in Turkey to earn European board certification in facial plastic surgery. He has served in various leadership roles, including as Immediate-Past President of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, a notable organization in Europe since its inception in 1977. Dr. Apaydin is an executive board member of both the Turkish Society of Facial Plastic Surgery and the International Board Certification of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies.

Over the past two decades, Dr. Apaydin has been active in teaching, lecturing, and performing surgeries related to facial plastic surgery globally, including extensive work in the Middle East and Gulf countries. Dr. Apaydin's early life began in 1961 in Izmir. After completing his high school education at İzmir Bornova Anatolian High School, he proceeded to Ege University Faculty of Medicine, where he specialized in Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases, obtaining his degree in 1991. He progressed academically at the same university, earning titles of Assistant Professor in 1995, Associate Professor in 1998, and Professor in 2004. Since becoming an Associate Professor, Dr. Apaydin has focused on Facial Plastic Surgery within the Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases specialty.

His commitment to facial plastic surgery was further developed through observational roles at the University of Illinois at Chicago's ENT and Head and Neck Surgery Department. During this period, he studied under prominent figures in rhinoplasty and contributed to the development of "Rhinobase," a comprehensive database and analysis program for rhinoplasty that is utilized worldwide.

Dr. Apaydin's professional journey includes several key positions and honors, such as being an honorary faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago and serving as the Turkish national delegate and general secretary for the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery. His involvement in facial plastic surgery is further evidenced by his leadership in the Facial Plastic Surgery Association in Turkey and his participation in the prestigious rhinoplasty meetings organized by the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Apaydin is known for his linguistic proficiency in English, German, and French. His contributions to facial plastic surgery, both in Turkey and internationally, reflect his commitment to the advancement of the specialty.
