About Doctor Aziz Sumer
After acquiring his medical degree from the Mediterranean University's Medical Faculty in 1997, Dr. Sumer embarked on his specialization at Haydarpasa Numune Training and Research Hospital's 2nd General Surgery Department, completed in 2005. His pursuit of knowledge took him to Austria, where he honed his skills in endocrine and laparoscopic surgery at AKH Hospital, Vienna, under Prof. Bruno Niederle's guidance.
His education continued with advanced training in endocrine and laparoscopic surgery at Istanbul University's General Surgical Department in 2009. By 2010, Dr. Sumer was contributing as an Assistant Professor at Yüzüncü Yıl University's General Surgery Department. The same year, he deepened his expertise in advanced laparoscopic and morbid obesity surgery at his alma mater, Haydarpasa Numune Training and Research Hospital.
Dr. Sumer's commitment to advancing his surgical skills is evident in his numerous specialized training programs and certifications. Notably, in 2011, he undertook several international training sessions in Spain, France, and Italy, focusing on advanced laparoscopic procedures, robotic systems, and bariatric surgery. These experiences broadened his expertise, particularly in the field of minimally invasive surgery.
In 2012, Dr. Sumer earned the title of Associate Professor of General Surgery. He then further specialized in organ transplantation, specifically kidney transplantation, at Acıbadem University, Faculty of Medicine, between 2012 and 2013. He also engaged in practical surgical sessions at Bezmialem University's Faculty of Medicine, Obesity Department, in 2013.
