Pursuing his interest in medicine, he embarked on his medical education journey at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2001. By 2007, he had passed the TUS exam, paving the way for his specialty training at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (Çapa), a pioneer in establishing the Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery clinic in Turkey.

Throughout his tenure, Dr. Alper Mete Ugurlu engaged in over 1500 surgeries within the realm of plastic surgery. His areas of focus included maxillofacial surgery, Breast Reconstruction, Microsurgery, Facial Reconstructions, Head and Neck tumors, and body contouring. Additionally, he dedicated two years in the Hand Surgery department at the same clinic, where he played a significant role in surgeries addressing hand injuries, limb amputations, and muscle and nerve transfers.

In 2012, Dr. Alper Mete Ugurlu's research on "The effects of limited adventitiectomy on vascular anastomosis" was recognized and he received a specialization diploma for his experimental study. This pivotal research later found its place in the “J Plast Surg Hand Surg” journal. Dr. Alper Mete Ugurlu has also been credited for his innovative technique developed to extract temporal fascia and ear cartilage, predominantly in secondary nose surgeries. This method was documented in the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery titled "Endoscopy-Assisted Single-Incision Technique to Harvest the Conchal Cartilage and Temporal Fascia Simultaneously by Using Phaco Slit Knife".
