Clinic Introduction

Born in 1964, Dr. Ahmet Turkcapar completed his initial education at Ataturk Primary School in Kahramanmaras, later progressing to Antakya Central Primary School and concluding at Ankara Kocatepe Mimar Kemal High School. In 1987, he graduated from Ankara University School of Medicine.

Dr. Turkcapar made the decision early in his career to focus on surgery as his specialty. He appreciated the surgical domain for its immediate impact on patients' health, the hands-on approach it entailed, and its deep interplay with human relations. In 1987, Dr. Turkcapar was accepted into the General Surgery clinic of Ankara University School of Medicine.

Post-specialization in 1992, he joined the specialist staff of Ankara University. It was during this period that he collaborated with Prof. Dr. Nusret Aras and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gurel, concentrating on emerging laparoscopic surgeries such as cholecystotomy and hernia surgery.

In 1993, he initiated gastric banding operations laparoscopically. However, by 2003, based on his observations regarding the long-term results and potential complications, he decided to stop performing gastric banding surgery.

In 2006, he started performing gastric bypass surgery at Ankara University, which was emerging as a standard procedure in the U.S. for its efficacy in addressing metabolic syndromes. His continuous engagement in the field allowed him to research techniques and complications related to these surgeries in collaboration with renowned professionals like Dr. Karl Miller, Dr. Raul Rosenthal, and Dr. Jacques Himpens.
