What is the likelihood of requiring a root canal procedure after receiving a crown?
My new dentist informed me that there's a 20% chance of requiring root canal treatment after getting a crown, especially since it could potentially irritate the nerve. My risk is heightened because I have a crack (which was filled but didn't resolve the issue, leading to the need for a crown) and I want a porcelain crown, which involves more drilling. I'm seeking a second opinion to verify if this 20% or greater figure is accurate. It's worth noting that this concerns a lower molar, and the dentist in question has approximately six years of practice experience as a general dentist.

Experiencing severe pain while removing the temporary crown after a root canal procedure.
Hello, a few weeks ago, I underwent two root canal procedures on adjacent teeth. Subsequently, temporary crowns were placed over both teeth for a period of three weeks. However, when the dental assistant removed the temporary crown from both teeth, I experienced an excruciating level of pain to the point where I almost passed out. Is this level of pain normal following root canals, or could it be related to my gums? The dental staff didn't seem overly concerned, but I'm quite worried about it.

Is there a reason for me to worry about the squeaking sound produced by dental crowns?
I had around 20 porcelain dental crowns placed in the front of my mouth a couple of years ago, and I've noticed that they occasionally make a squeaking noise when I stretch my mouth or lips. I diligently wear a night guard at night and maintain good oral hygiene. It seems as if they might be positioned closely together and could be rubbing against each other due to pressure. I've mentioned this concern to my dentist, but they reassured me that the crowns are well-cemented and there's no need to worry. However, I'm quite anxious about my dental health. Could you please advise if there might be an issue?

My doctor is suggesting a crown, but I'm worried about how it will affect the future appearance of my natural tooth.
During my elementary school years, I was pushed to the ground when a group of kids was running in my direction. As I fell, one of my front teeth chipped. I visited the dentist, and I believe they performed a filling on that tooth. About 8 or 9 years later, while I was flossing, the filling came off. The dentist replaced it again and mentioned that she would be placing a crown on it in a few months. However, I've been researching cases where people have removed their crowns, and the results didn't look very promising. Aren't crowns supposed to restore the natural appearance of the tooth?
